CANZAC Expansion Foam Joint is a flexible, closed-cell foam joint filler with a high-tack self-adhesive backing for fast and secure installation.
Installed between new concrete and adjoining structures, the compressible foam creates a controlled separation that allows the concrete to expand, contract and shrink without bonding directly to walls, columns, penetrations, precast panels or existing slabs.
The self-adhesive backing holds the expansion foam firmly in position during concrete placement, reducing movement and simplifying installation. A removable 10 mm zip strip creates a consistent recess at the top of the joint for the application of a suitable flexible joint sealant.
Manufactured from a blend of vinyl nitrile and neoprene, CANZAC Expansion Foam remains flexible across a wide operating-temperature range and provides good resistance to weathering, ageing, fungi, ultraviolet exposure and many common chemicals.
The integral 10 mm zip strip can be removed after concrete placement to create a clean and consistent sealant recess at the surface of the joint.
Where a sealant recess is not required, the expansion foam can be installed with the zip strip positioned at the bottom.
Installation
- Ensure the receiving surface is clean, dry and free from dust, oil and loose material.
- Cut the expansion foam to the required length.
- Remove the protective liner from the adhesive backing.
- Press the foam firmly against the wall, column, penetration or existing concrete surface.
- Ensure all edges and intersections are fitted continuously without unwanted gaps.
- Place the new concrete against the expansion foam.
- Remove the 10 mm zip strip when required and install the specified joint sealant.
