WIDE MOVE STEEL DOWEL SYSTEM

Square dowel technology to accommodate for wide joint openings

The CANZAC Wide Move Steel Dowel System is a heavy-duty square dowel and sleeve system designed to provide load transfer across concrete joints with large anticipated openings.

The system is specifically suited to post-tensioned concrete slabs, shrinkage-compensating concrete, stressed slabs and heavily loaded concrete floors where joint movement may exceed the capacity of conventional dowel systems.

A square steel dowel transfers vertical loads between adjacent slab panels, helping maintain alignment and reduce differential deflection across the joint. The oversized steel sleeve provides the clearance required to accommodate horizontal slab movement as the joint opens.

By allowing the designed movement of the slab without sacrificing vertical load transfer, the Wide Move Steel Dowel System helps protect concrete joint edges and maintain a smoother transition for forklifts, vehicles and material-handling equipment. , commonly used in conjunction with the canzac armoured cover plate joint system.

The system is available in a wide range of sleeve lengths and widths to suit 20 mm and 25 mm square steel dowels. Custom sleeve sizes can also be manufactured for project-specific joint movement requirements.

The correct dowel size, sleeve dimensions, embedment and spacing must be selected for the slab thickness, concrete strength, anticipated joint opening and applied wheel or point loads.

CANZAC supplies Wide Move Steel Dowel Systems throughout New Zealand and provides joint-movement calculations, load-transfer calculations and technical support for post-tensioned and heavily loaded concrete slabs.

DESIGN AND INSTALLATION

The Wide Move Steel Dowel System must be designed around the total anticipated joint opening.

Dowel size, spacing, embedment and sleeve dimensions must be selected for the slab thickness, concrete strength, anticipated joint opening and applied wheel or point loads.

Install all sleeves and dowels level, in the centre of the slab depth ,parallel to the concrete surface and perpendicular to the joint. Correct alignment is essential to provide effective load transfer without restricting the designed horizontal movement of the slab.
