Delivering a large-scale sports stadium presents a unique set of challenges from tight construction timelines to complex structural demands and long-term durability requirements.
Following the Christchurch earthquakes, the need for a temporary stadium in 2012 required an incredibly fast turnaround. The facility was completed in just 11 weeks, accommodating 18,000 people with a build cost of $32 million.
Now, with the development of Christchurch’s new Stadium ONE, the challenge continued. While the design differs from previous projects, the scale of substructure concrete works, precision installation requirements, and need to stay on programme remain critical factors.
